Teaching
My teaching philosophy involves values from the Suzuki Method (emphasis on aural skills, developing musical instinct, positive encouragement), combined with technical material developed by the great violin pedagogues across various European traditions, and artistic processes passed down by protegés of the reknowned violinist Dorothy Delay. Additional training includes Mimi Zweig String Pedagogy, which focuses on performing with physical freedom. Note-reading and theory are prioritized in the early stages of development, supported by the active listening of professional recordings.
My hope is that my students’ lives are enriched and nurtured through their own artistry, instilling a life-long passion for music and a zest for life.
Student Achievements
My students have won prizes at competitions (Qatar National Music Competition, Seoul International Violin Competition, Doha College Musiqaa Competition), and they have received Distinctions and invitations to perform at the High Scorer’s Concert, as part of the British ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) examination system. I have experience in preparing my students for all eight grades of the ABRSM curriculum, and they have also received scholarships to attend music schools and programs.
They have also successfully won placements in the Detroit Youth Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra, and MSBOA (Michigan State Band & Orchestra) All-State Orchestra.
